AND THE WINNER IS... "FREE AS A MAN"

THE GAP HAS BEEN FILLED: THE UNIVERSAL LOGO FOR HUMAN RIGHTS WAS REVEALED ON 23 SEPTEMBER, 2011 IN NEW YORK.

THE HUMAN RIGHTS LOGO WILL BECOME AN OPEN SOURCE PRODUCT, FREE TO BE USED BY EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE, WITHOUT RESTRICTIONS - FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROMOTING HUMAN RIGHTS.

The “A Logo for Human Rights” initiative was the largest global online competition of its kind thus far.

Since the beginning of May, 2011 15,375 logo suggestions from over 190 countries were received.

10 finalists were chosen by a jury of renowned and high-ranking personalities. They include UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navanethem Pillay (South Africa), HRH Princess Basma Bint Talal(Jordan), five Nobel Peace Prize winners – Aung San Suu Kyi (Myanmar), Shirin Ebadi (Iran), Muhammad Yunus (Bangladesh), Mikhail Gorbachev (Russia) and Jimmy Carter (USA) – as well as internationally renowned design experts such as Ahmad Humeid (Jordan), Javier Mariscal (Spain), well known children's and women's rights activists and many others.


From 27 August to 17 September 2011 over 15,000 votes from more than 190 countries, were submitted. The people have chosen the winner.
